Columbia Glacier in Alaska

A 4324.jpg Columbia Glacier Alaska an aerial stock photo 81 of 115 « prev next »
Columbia Glacier is the largest glacier in Prince William Sound. Due to the changes in climate, it has been receding at an accelerated rate over the last few years. In the last year alone, it receded more than 100 yards. The deep cravasses are a sign that the glacier ice is also rapidly thinning. The light snow cover, typical of the spring, should have been much thicker than what it is today on a morning in early May 2008.
